1. Attached, please see the / Pacific Justice Institute's Reopening Checklists for Churches...

~ Reopening for Drive-in Services

~ Reopening for Outdoor Services

~ Reopening for Indoor Services

~ Cleaning and Disinfecting Your Facility

2. Here is a brief summary of my take-aways from a Pacific Justice Institute Zoom meeting that was held today.

~ Social distancing most likely will be central to any reopening plans, along with various safety and sanitation measures.

~ Local governments are tasked with implementing CA state policies.

~ Monitor your local government's COVID-19 website links.

~ Phone, email and/or otherwise communicate with your local government.

~ Be prayerful, proactive, warmly professional, helpful and patient in developing reopening plans in close communications with your local government.

~ Rather than criticizing your government, offer suggestions/plans/concepts for your government's consideration, .

~ Live peaceably and in compliance with local regulations; however, contact Pacific Justice Institute for wise legal counsel to address unreasonable/arbitrary/over-reaching government restrictions.

3. An online meeting of Pacific Justice Institute addressing the topic of "What Churches Can Do To Prepare To Reopen" will be held next Thursday, May 14.

Before next Thursday see to register for this free Zoom meeting.

4. Today Governor Newsom related in a press briefing that churches may continue to serve the poor, homeless, perform childcare services, etc., but that the reopening of in-person church services remains in Phase 3 of CA's Reopening Plan.

No date was given regarding when the Phase 3 Reopening Plan will begin.

Governor Newsom gave no clear reason for church reopening delays till Phase 3, other than to say that it would not be good for many people from many places to gather together at this time.

He said that his Administration is consulting with faith group leaders and that he is sympathetic to religious groups' reopening concerns.

The Magnet of a Thankful Heart

During a time of devastation and distress, the prophet Jeremiah wrote these words:

This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope.  The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness (Lamentations 3:21-23).

This is a indeed a challenging time for all of us.  But like Jeremiah, we have reason for hope.  Are you seeing God’s goodness and faithful to you?

Over a century ago, one believer gave this insight:  “If one should give me a dish of sand, and tell me there were particles of iron in it, I might look for them with my eyes, and search for them with my clumsy fingers, and be unable to detect them; but let me take a magnet and sweep through it, and how would it draw to itself the almost invisible particles, by the mere power of attraction!  The unthankful heart, like my finger in the sand, discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day, and as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find in every hour some heavenly blessings; only the iron in God’s sand is gold.”

May our eyes be increasingly opened to seeing God’s blessings because of our grateful hearts.

Looking forward,

Pastor Ron Prosise

Churches: Put Down That Spiritual Gifts Quiz

There is a lot of controversy about the Enneagram. Some see it as a harmless personality test that may have had its origins in the occult. Others see it as a grave danger to the Church. This article gives a pretty thorough explanation to the test, the purpose, and the spirituality of the test. It's a long article but well-worth the read.
