Church: Capital City Baptist Church
Pastor: Ken Campbell, Aka Pastor Ken
Bio Info: My call to ministry came during Bible college in the early '80's, but was not able to continue school so spent the better part of 30 years as a lay person serving mostly in music ministry and men's ministry. After receiving a challenge from the pastor I was serving under in 2012 to do something with that call, my wife and I with much prayer and consideration created a five-year plan that would enable me educationally and us financially to enter minimally part-time ministry.
Already possessing an AS degree in Administration of Justice, I enrolled at Liberty University and obtained my BS in Interdisciplinary Studies (Criminal Justice and Biblical Studies with a Theology focus) in 2014. My main goal was to attend seminary after LU, so I attended the distance learning program at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated with my MTS (Masters of Theological Studies) in 2016.
During the time I was at LU, I was called by First Baptist Church Linden, CA (SBC) to be their Minister of Music in 2013, and ordained there the next year. I began doing some pulpit filling there and at another church, and they called me to be their pastor in 2016. I served as pastor of Faith Baptist Church Stockton (GARBC) for two years as a bi-vocational pastor.
As things began to change at my "day" job, we felt God moving us closer to full-time ministry. I was recently (7-29-18) voted to become the senior pastor at Capital City Baptist Church and began serving there on September 2nd. I had submitted a resume back in January 2018 after searching for a full-time SBC opportunity on the SBC website. What a great resource for churches and those seeking to serve!
Family: Tricia and I were married in 1982 and have two adult daughters. Our oldest, Brittany, is married to Robert (they are both school teachers) and have our only grandchild, Jude, who is 4 years old. Brianna, our youngest, lives in Lincoln, CA and is on staff at William Jessup University as an administrator in the athletic department. Tricia works for the Lodi Unified School district as a special education teacher specializing in autism. She has a deep love for children. We have lived in Stockton for the last 15 years and are looking forward to moving to the Elk Grove area.
Church: CCBC's current gatherings are: Sunday-9:30 am SS, 10:50 am Worship service; Wednesday-6:30 pm Youth/College Bible study and Adult Bible study and prayer meeting. The women are very active and all their events are on our calendar on our website at www.capitalcitybc.com. We will be adding a men's morning Bible study this fall and prayerfully are looking forward to adding a children's program midweek. CCBC is known for its "Journey to the Cross" which is an illustration of the events including and leading up to the resurrection of Christ during the Easter season.
CCBC has a rich history in Elk Grove, and we look to continue that history and find new ways to engage our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

MINISTRY EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & FAMILY
Ministry for the Lord has been Pastor Jim's passion since his senior year of High School. He has been serving the Lord faithfully in many capacities since 1973; starting with the Summer Missionary Teams, serving as Worship Leader for a couple of years with the California Southern Baptist Convention.
Pastor Jim has fully utilized the gifts God has given him, first of all, his love for music and skill in leading worship for youth and adults, and most of all, his passion for teaching and preaching. Pastor Jim excels at teaching and preaching God's word and being able to relate to both the young and the old, that they may apply God's word to their everyday life. Pastor Jim is very personable, loves people and loves serving God.
Pastor Jim has been at Hillsdale Blvd Baptist Church since September 2000, with his wife Debbie and daughter Christina. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the California Baptist University in 1977 and a Masters of Religious Education Degree from the Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 1983. Colfax Baptist Church
Pastor: Dr. Gary Howard
My information: My spiritual journey started at the age of ten, when I clearly heard, understood, and placed my faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When I was 16 years old, I was baptized in the Baptist church where I grew up. Upon graduation of university at the age of 23, I entered into full time vocational ministry as a youth pastor. Those three years as a youth pastor were formative for me as I learned all the many facets of ministry. It was during this time I was called and confirmed to become a pastor of a church. After seminary I served as associate pastor of the Baptist church where I grew up and then pastored a church in Idaho. I have now been serving as Senior Pastor at Colfax Baptist Church for almost nine years. I have ministered vocationally for 20 years: senior pastor role for 12 years, an associate pastor role for 5 years, and as a youth pastor for 3 years. While serving Colfax Baptist Church I pursued my Doctor of Ministry at Talbot Theological Seminary and graduated May of 2016.
My Family: My wife Michelle and I have been married since May of 2000 and God has blessed us with our son Toby (born 2004) and daughter Hokulani (born 2007).

CHURCH HISTORY
In 1990, Pastor Tuan Phan, who was taking care of a Vietnamese Baptist church in San Leandro, East Bay was invited to preach at a Christian church in Sacramento. There he met Ms. Hoang Dang and married her in 1992. In 1993 Pastor and Mrs. Tuan Phan started the Vietnamese Baptist Mission aiming at fulfilling the physical and spiritual needs of the growing Vietnamese community. With waves of Vietnamese refugees coming to Sacramento, the Vietnamese mission worked closely with organization like World Relief and USCC to help settle Vietnamese new comers. The mission grew and took on the name Vietnamese Hope Baptist Church. Through the years, the church served the community through many free programs like ESL classes, Citizenship classes, Computer classes, Guitar classes, Homework tutoring, school readiness programs, interpretation at government agencies and hospitals. Right now, we offer free tax return help, community service opportunities, adult and youth counseling. During the period of 1994-2013, we were not homeless, but were under the sponsorship and support of our 3 sister churches: New Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Fourteenth Avenue Baptist Church, and Laguna Chinese Baptist Church. Realizing the need to be independent, to prepare for the younger generation, and to be more effective at serving the community, Pastor Tuan Phan led the church to build our own church facility. Our church purchased this land in December 2008, and through faith we took the journey to apply for permit, and to start construction in May 2013. We see clearly how God orchestrated the whole construction process from start to finish. He provided people with special skills to help us at each stage of the construction. We appreciate our pastor for his vision and leadership. We appreciate all the people who donated their time, talent, and money to help us build this church facility. On July 23rd, 2014, our church passed all final inspections and can legally occupy. The church facility Grand Opening / Dedication Ceremony on July 26th, 2014 marked the new chapter in our church history full of hope. God was faithful and is still faithful. We trust that God will help our church grow and be more effective in serving the physical and spiritual need of our community.

My church calls me Pastor Bob, a title I am recently becoming accustomed to. My career has been in education and only recently has God brought me back into ministry. In the 1980s I went to California Baptist College and was Licensed to Ministry under Stanley Fogle at First Southern Baptist Church, San Bernardino. Later, I was ordained by First Southern Baptist Church of Colton, Ca. under the pastorate of Alvin Carpenter. Life circumstances led me away from ministry and into education. I look back now at the past 30 + years and think of all the men God has had to mold and shape over their lifetimes before He could really use them. I am placing myself into that same category.
What we at WSBC have discovered is that there needs to be a focus on teaching. It is also my personal belief that the focus of the church at large should be on teaching. Too often people have come to the church expecting to really get something from the word, and more often than not leave empty handed. Conventional churches have a pastor who stands behind a pulpit raising and lowering his voice at opportune times with an occasional slap or bang on the wooden pulpit for emphasis. At WSBC this is not the case. Instead of what I refer to as, "pulpit pounding" we spend the time teaching, and trying to understand God's word.
Our sanctuary is designed to be comfortable and accommodating for the purpose of learning. We use tables and chairs rather than pews, and we ask questions and accept input and views of all present. Certainly, we do not always agree, but we have learned this is not necessary. The pastor is not the only one who knows spiritual truths.
There are but two things we must all agree on: First, Jesus is the Christ and Second, Salvation only comes by Faith in Him. Pretty much everything else is opinion.
Our church believes God loves all of humanity. His Spirit is here to seek and save those that are lost. Therefore, anyone and everyone who wishes to seek God and His Christ are welcome. We do not discriminate or judge based on lifestyles or beliefs. God gave us one thing to do, share His Gospel. God never put any man in charge of judgment, and or discipline, but has kept those for Himself.
It is also a belief of WSBC that "ALL PEOPLE" are loved by God and that He does not want any to perish. For people to get to know Jesus and come to faith they must be able to hear God's word, for "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God," and "without faith it is impossible to please God."
God's very nature is Love and we believe His people should be the same as He is. It is therefore another belief of WSBC that we will not win the lost through judgment, and condemnation, but instead through Love we shall bring the lost soul to Christ.
Here at West Sacramento Baptist Church we are looking forward to meeting, worshiping and serving with all who seek His face.

New Hope Baptist Church
The spiritual pilgrimage of Gary W. Young has its genesis in the strong devotion and resilient faith of his parents and great aunt. Rev. Young’s entrance into the faith community began at age 12, when he professed his faith commitment in Christ. In May 1979, he surrendered to God’s leading into the gospel ministry and was licensed to preach. Rev. Young served in various ministerial capacities in the churches that he has been affiliated with.
After faithfully serving as New Hope's Minister of Religious Education from 1992 to 2002 under Pastor Wendell Burnett, Rev. Young received the appointment as the Senior Pastor-Teacher in December 2003.
Rev. Young is a native of Wichita Falls, Texas, a father and grandfather.
Rev. Young holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, Texas. He began his Theological graduate studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. In December 1999, he received the Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Historical-Theology from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, California. Rev. Young formerly served on the faculty of the Degree Completion Program at William Jessup University, Rocklin, California.
Galatians 2:20 is Rev. Young’s favorite scripture and accordingly serves him as “a landmark on the charts and maps of every dimension of his destiny.”
“I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I; It is Christ that lives in me. The life that I now live, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.”
