Joy in the Journey
November 20, 2020, 6:56 AM

Imagine (before Covid!) two different people on a cruise ship.  One person is having the best time ever – enjoying the sights as the ship sails, feasting at every meal on the wonderful cuisine, taking the time for spiritual refreshment in God’s word, and even sharing the gospel with others as the Lord gives opportunities.

But the other person is not having a wonderful time.  He finds many things that are not to his liking, he’s annoyed at the other passengers, and he stays closeted up alone in his room eating stale food that he brought aboard.  What a contrast!  But both passengers will arrive at their destination, right?  That’s guaranteed.  They will both get there.  It’s just that one will have had a joyous journey and the other will have had a miserable trip.

As God’s child, He has promised you heaven.  Your destination is certain.  But what is not guaranteed is what kind of journey you will have getting there.  Will it be joyful or unhappy?  Will it be fruitful or barren?

In John 15, Jesus says, “If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.”  May we abide in Christ’s love so that our lives may be full of joy, fruitful for the Father’s glory.

Looking forward,

Pastor Ron Prosise
