National Day of Prayer set for Thursday, May 3
Please join other Christians across America to pray for revival. Changed lives in the church as well as transformation in a culture come not from human effort, but by the power of God made manifest in the lives of His people.

Resources and a list of local events are available.

Ronnie Floyd, former SBC president, and president of the National Day of Prayer, encourages Southern Baptists to pray for America personally, in your church, and in a National Day of Prayer observance on Thursday, May 3.

He says prayer is a responsibility of each Bible-believing follower of Jesus Christ. This video tool is a way to pray for our country. Use it personally between now and the National Day of Prayer. Use it in your church worship services before or after May 3. Use it in an observance of the National Day of Prayer. Join me in the 2018 National Prayer for America.

AB 2943
If you would like to write a letter to your Senator regarding AB2943, one can be found here. Pastor Clint from Country Oaks Baptist Church has been kind enough to provide the form letter for us.

As you may know AB 2943 already passed through the assembly and is headed towards a vote in the Senate. The passing of the bill would effect the local church dramatically and would be another step taken against Religious Freedom and quite possibly the banning of the Bible. Each of you just needs to sign the Form letter and fax it to your representative in the Senate and Assembly. Each church member could also sign the petition at californiafamily.ivolunteers.com

School of Christian Ministries names a new endowed professorship after faithful Baptist stewards
By CBU Marketing and Communications on April 05, 2018

Riverside – The School of Christian Ministries at California Baptist University hosted a dedication ceremony on April 5 for its first $1 million endowed professorship that will be named after the late Dr. Glen and Alene Paden.

Glen Paden served as the California Baptist Foundation president from 1981 to 1997. Prior to his work at the foundation, Glen Paden was the assistant executive director of the California Southern Baptist Convention. He was also a pastor at several churches earlier in his ministry. He received his bachelor’s from (then) California Baptist College and an honorary doctorate from CBU. Alene, Glen’s wife of 67 years, served alongside her husband in various ministry roles. She was also an educator. The couple had five daughters.

Dr. Chris Morgan, dean of the School of Christian Ministries at CBU, said it was fitting to name the professorship after Glen and Alene Paden.

“The couple was a great example of faithful servants for God’s Kingdom, and they were a blessing to many of us at CBU,” Morgan said.

Several members of the Paden family were on hand for the dedication of the new professorship at CBU.

Joey Logan, grandson, spoke about his grandparents’ fond memories of CBU.

“My grandparents both loved CBU deeply,” said Logan, an alumnus and assistant athletic director for business operations at CBU. “When I was in school here at CBU, [my granddad] would call me weekly and most of the time he would ask, ‘What is going on at CBU? What is [the CBU president] up to? What new buildings are going up?’”

Dr. Ronald L. Ellis, CBU president, said that students should take inspiration from Glen’s and Alene’s faithful Christian walks. Ellis encouraged students to seize the “baton” from them and live a purpose-filled life.

Since 2017, the School of Christian Ministries has received $7.4 million in endowment commitments. The donations come from the SoCal Baptist Ministries, a nonprofit organization that offers grants to California Southern Baptist churches and ministries; the Baptist Foundation of California; an anonymous donor; and the CBU Board of Trustees Endowment Match program. Part of these donations will fund the Dr. Glen and Alene Paden professorship.

Philip Kell, president of the Baptist Foundation of California, addressed his organization’s trust in CBU training up the next generation of spiritual leaders.

“This is the university committed to the Great Commission, and we are excited to be a part of helping you do the work of God,” Kell said.

Your Wireless Microphone Might Be Illegal Tomorrow by Chris Huff for MinistryTech.com
This could be the most important thing you read all day.  Wireless microphones and in-ear systems that use the 600 MHz band, in the United States, will soon be doing so illegally. In some cases, they will stop working.  Worried you made a mistake? The good news is I’m here to help.

Why illegal wireless?
The United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) auctioned off airspace in the 600 MHz band, originally available for using wireless microphones, to companies including cellular internet providers. Users of wireless systems like microphones, in-ear monitors, and intercom systems were told to vacate the space or face fines and criminal sanctions.

Originally, they said we had until 2020 to replace our gear and stop using the equipment. But then, buried in fine print, it said UNLESS the auction winners start using that space, in which case we needed to vacate that space immediately. Guess what happened?  Thanks, T-Mobile.

Specifics: The auction resulted in frequencies from 614 to 698 MHz being auctioned to companies, including cell phone companies like T-Mobile, or being otherwise unavailable for our usage.

Oh, Canada!
Ya’ll have a similar problem but I don’t have the dates and details on it. Check your govt’s web site for more information.

Is this really impacting the church?  YES!
Churches across the US are already replacing their equipment because of the new airwave usage as their equipment stopped working or had problems directly related to interfering with new airwave ownership.

Before we start throwing stones, we must recognize the growth of wireless technology and our love of checking email, Facebook, Instagram, and even remote mixing comes at a price.

What will my microphone do if T-Mobile starts using the space?
So will your microphones really stop working if someone starts using the 600-band in your area? You’ll be subject to either non-stop interference or you’ll be open to the possibility of interference during usage. In my book, that renders the microphones useless. If there’s a possibility of interference then I’m replacing the microphone.

Are you willing to risk interference during your church service? During the sermon? Oh, and if (when) you’re caught, you’ll be fined and criminally sanctioned.

Maybe you’ll get a warning, though. Maybe. “Fix that headlight tomorrow to avoid a traffic ticket.” One can hope but I wouldn’t bet on it.

If you really want to read the details about the 600 MHz ban, check out the article on the FCC website.

Let me HELP

This is where I come in.

First, there’s some relief in sight. Some of the pro audio companies are providing rebates on wireless microphones. If you have microphones that use the 600 band, the below companies are willing to cut you a break. Links are to their rebate pages. Just beware the rebates are ending soon so take advantage of them before they run out.
Read the rest of the article here and get valuable info on replacing your microphones.
